I've been absent from here nearly a year (the last comment I responded to being sometime in August of last year). Personally I never thought this would happen and it was never a conscious decision of any sort - I just started checking in less and less. Although this does not mean that I've given up on photography or stopped taken photos - quite the opposite. But as I sit here, sipping some hot tea, I realized just how much I missed being around dA - I miss the community, my friends, acquaintances, but most of all the art. The Sky. What is it about the sky that captivates us so much. I know I've featured quite extensively in my photography, but what really got me thinking about it was a trip I took on a biplane a few days ago. There is a particular sense of freedom that I get when flying, or climbing peak or looking out at a city from a sky scraper - a particular exhilaration that I get by knowing that I'm somehow above it all, that I've gotten away from it all. It is a peculiar sensation of freedom, that somehow, by just being up there with the clouds I am now free from all. Remember that endless sense of wonder that you had when you were young? NEWS Ok. So I've been away for a while and there is very little I can do about that. University full-time is just eating up all the time I have and not even summers are sacred anymore. But this is not to say that I haven't been out doing what I enjoy most; taking photos.
